Chili Oil for Dimsum and Various Dishes – Very Practical
A recipe from a dim sum seller.

Ingredients
- 250 g chili flakes / dried chilies, chopped
- 7–10 cloves of garlic (for a more practical option, you can use 2–3 small packs of garlic powder)
- 15 g dried shrimp (ebi)
- Sesame seeds (can be substituted with sesame oil)
- 1 teaspoon sugar, salt, and MSG — added at the end for seasoning (I use equal amounts of each)
Directions
- Heat the oil until hot.
- Add all the ingredients.
- Stir for 3–5 minutes until you reach the desired texture.
- Once done, adjust the seasoning to taste.
